OC Dental Academy - Back Office is today's most concise, practical course that gives you the skills you need to get a job.  OC Dental Academy provides thorough, effective coverage of the most important dental assisting concepts and techniques.  We maintain the high standards that students trust and bring you the very latest information in the field.

We have expanded our program to 12 weeks so we can include an (8) hour infection control certification, which is now mandatory for all unlicensed dental assistants.  This program also includes your California Radiation Safety Certification, which will allow you to take x-rays legally and a (1) year membership with the American Dental Assisting Association.

OC Dental Academy - Front Office covers all the functions of a dental business office. This practical course offers how to organize tasks, complete procedures, develop effective communication skills and behave professionally. OC Dental Academy’s front office course offers new technology and moving toward the paperless dental office, specifically in areas such as scheduling, bookkeeping, electronic record regulations, and insurance coding. Other hot topics are current HIPAA and dental coding information.

This program is if you have been working in a dental
office and have some experience taking x-rays.

OC Dental Academy - CA X-ray Program 2 
This program is for a student that has
little to no experience  taking dental x-rays.

OC Dental Academy - California Radiation Safety Certification OC DentalAcademy in partnership with OC Dental Specialists, is now offering a 32 hour Board-approved Radiation Safety Certificationprogram.  Upon successful completion ofthis program, you will have your California Radiation Safety Certification andpermitted to legally operate dental radiographic equipment and take dental x-rays.  This course is also meets all RDA licensurerequirements. (see excerpt from the dental board website on the California requirementsbelow).

Theprogram consists of all aspects of dental radiography.  You will be taught proper techniques,radiation physics, film processing, film mounting, infection control and thedental radiographer, patient protection, operator protection, radiationguidelines, image characteristics,trouble shooting, interpretation, and the advances in digital and panoramicimaging.  Patientsare required for the clinical portion of this program.

·        Each person working in a dentist's office whooperates dental radiographic equipment must complete a Board-approved radiationsafety program prior to exposing radiographs. In addition, allapplicants for Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) licensure must submit evidenceof having completed an approved radiation safety course, and all existing RDAlicensees must do so prior to March 31, 2006 or their license will beautomatically suspended.
·        The DentalBoard (Board) is notified of each person's successful passage of the requiredcourse by the approved program, so that there is a record of each person'scompliance with the above law. Graduates of an approved, full RDA EducationalProgram after January 1, 1985, are presumed to have certification in radiationsafety, since it is a required portion of the educational program's curriculum.
·        A person whois certified in radiation safety may operate dental radiographic equipmentunder the general supervision of the supervising dentist.

OC Dental Academy - Oregon Certificate of Radiologic Proficiency  To perform dental radiography procedures in Oregon, a dental assistant must hold a state certificate of radiologic proficiency. To obtain this certificate, a dental assistant must do one of the following: 

1.  Complete all of the following three requirements and apply to DANB for a state certificate of radiologic proficiency:

a.  Complete a course approved by the Oregon Board of Dentistry (OBD)*, or submit evidence of equivalent training recognized by the Oregon Health Authority, Center for Health Protection, Radiation Protection Services and

b.  Pass the national DANB Radiation Health and Safety (RHS) exam or DANB Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) exam, and

c.  Pass the Oregon Clinical Radiologic Proficiency exam** administered by DANB (radiographs must be submitted for grading within six months after they are taken), OR

Our course partners with a course that is approved by the Oregon Board of Dentistry (OBD). Our course content will prepare you to take the national DANB Radiation Health and Safety (RHS) exam administered by DANB.


OC Dental Academy - 8 Hour Infection Control Certification

OC Dental Academy -8 Hour Infection Control Certification  in partnership with OC Dental Specialist, is a board approved program that meets the California Dental Board requirements needed for any unlicensed Dental Assistant and for all Registered Dental Assistants (RDA).

The California Dental Board states that you must "Successfully complete and show proof of a Board-approved course in an eight (8) hour Board-approved course in infection control"

This course will cover microbiology and infection control, blood-borne pathogens, surface and equipment a sepsis, waste managements, sterilization and disinfection practices, instrument processing, personal protective equipment, sharps management and much more.
